OWNER MARY PRITCHARD
Mary Pritchard is a true American chef and restaurateur. She is the owner of Culinary Outfitters which is a St. Augustine landmark restaurant.
Flagler College brought Mary to St. Augustine in 1972, later graduating and becoming ingrained in the St. Augustine community. Mary has been an active resident, all the while involving herself in the heartbeat of the town.
Her travels in her younger years cultivated a lover for people and cooking. Smoking fish and cooking for friends and family, helped create a dream of opening her own restaurant. In year 2000, Culinary Outfitters was born and became the outstanding local restaurant patrons have grown to love.
Mary supervises the day-to-day running of Culinary Outfitters, and ensures her special attention to detail is embodied in every dish. Restaurant guests can watch chefs prepare food in the open kitchen. The last 9 consecutive years of excellence have lent itself to being voted best caterer in St. Augustine by “Best of St. Augustine”.
CHEF CHASE PRITCHARD
Culinary Outfitters is a St. Augustine dining experience orchestrated by a Chef born and raised in St. Augustine, Florida.
Chef Chase Pritchard’s love for the Ocean developed at an early age. He spent most of his time fishing with his father and helping at his Commercial Seafood Shop (formerly known as Chester’s) learning butchering skills and different textures of the ocean. As Chase’s love and respect for Mother Ocean was cultivated, so was his eagerness to learn. His earliest culinary Career started in the kitchens of Barnacle Bills.
Chase spent four years in Miami attending Culinary School at Le Cordon Bleu and learning the flavors of the Caribbean.
He then took himself to the next level, moving to New York City to work alongside todays Rising Chefs of NYC and learning from the country’s best. After spending time at some of New York’s hottest restaurants, Le Cirque, Public & Double Crown, Chase took a management position as sous chef with Union Square Hospitality Group (USHG).
Being Mentored by Michael Romano and Robb Garceau with deep French backgrounds, Chase has rounded himself into the Executive Chef of Culinary Outfitters. With a unique approach and a seafood forward menu, Chase is able to bring food to the table unlike anything in Northeast Florida
Connor Castelli began his life in restaurants at the age of 14. Years of on-the-job training at places like The Loop Pizza Grill and Starbucks, during his time at The Bolles School, and The Melting Pot, while at University of Florida, led him to Culinary Outfitters in 2008.
After four years as the Front of House Manager at The Bistro, Connor moved to Napa Valley to further his studies at the Culinary Institute of America. He worked in a variety of kitchens across the valley, including Clos Pegase Winery, Chateau Montelena, Signorello Estate, Harvest Moon Cafe, and as a private chef for Levensohn Vineyards. In 2016, Connor and his partner, Katie, returned to his hometown of Jacksonville, and is now the Catering Manager at Culinary Outfitters.
Front of House Assistant Manager
Aaron Badz was born in Jacksonville, Florida and has lived in Tallahassee, as well as Atlanta, Georgia. He attended Florida State University and finished his liberal arts degree at St. Johns River State College in 2013. Having worked at Metro Deli and Urbane in Tallahassee, and being educated in the kitchen at several finer dining establishments through the years, he has been trained in back-of-house techniques as well as experience the dining room with guests.
He has been with culinary outfitters since 2012 and is involved with the daily operations of The Bistro as well as catering events. When not in the kitchen, Aaron is sneaking in a quick round of golf or fishing with a cold one in his hand before sunset.
